This Zine is a Portal
with Francisco Donoso | 1 session
Description
Prepare for the new year by crafting your intentions into form. In this hands-on workshop, participants will create zines that look ahead to 2026—part reflection, part manifestation, part spell. Using collage, text, and simple photocopying techniques, we’ll transform paper into portals for the words, visions, and energies we want to carry forward. Together, we’ll explore how making can become a ritual of clarity and imagination, turning hope into something tangible. All materials will be provided—just bring your curiosity, and openness. This workshop takes place in our lobby space. Registration is required. ***PLEASE NOTE: The instructor, Francisco Donoso, is participating in a documentary, for which filming will occur during this workshop. The filmmakers will provide appearance releases for students to sign upon arrival. If some students wish to not be filmed, the filmmakers will make sure they are not captured on camera. "Second Nature" follows four DACA qualifying recipients who embrace being foreigners elsewhere rather than staying where they're not wanted, documenting their instinct for survival and resilience. *** About the Instructor: Francisco Donoso (he/him/el) is a transnational artist, curator and educator based in NYC. Originally from Ecuador, he's been a recipient of DACA since 2012. His multidisciplinary practice explores the psychic dimensions of migration through material layering, archival excavation, and world-building. www.franciscodonoso.com
